J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey injured; Broncos' run game in question

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton's back issues have flared up again, but his team's injury questions at running back may be a bigger pain this week.

J.K. Dobbins, who leads the team in carries (18) and rushing yards (72) after two games, and RJ Harvey each have hamstring injuries that make them question marks for Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Payton said Monday "I think there's a lot ahead of us this week in regards to who our runners are going to be.'' Rookie Jonah Coleman, who had 33 of his 39 yards rushing in Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on the game-closing drive, could be pushed to the front of the backfield rotation.

Dobbins left Sunday's game in the third quarter with a left hamstring injury and Harvey was a game-day inactive due to a hamstring injury he suffered in the season-opening loss in Kansas City. Overall, the team has continued to search for an identity in its offense, particularly in the run game.

On one possession against the Jaguars, the Broncos faced first-and-goal from the Jacksonville 1-yard line and had three carries from Dobbins that went for no gain, no gain and a loss of a yard. The Broncos ended up with Wil Lutz kicking a 20-yard field goal.

"It wasn't anything good,'' Payton said. " ... I would say just overall a real bad possession.''

The Rams, who play the New York Giants on Monday night, surrendered 122 yards rushing to the 49ers in their season opener.

In addition to Coleman, the Broncos have running back Tyler Badie on their active roster to go with Cody Schrader on their practice squad.
