'We'll have a yarn': Nelson Asofa-Solomona deals with racial taunt

Nelson Asofa-Solomona will consult his team before deciding whether to pursue claims of racial taunting against him in the wild aftermath to the Big Nasty's devastating victory over Paul Gallen.

As Gallen confirmed his retirement and thanked well wishers for their support on Saturday following his release from hospital, Asofa-Solomona was copping a barrage of online abuse for going at a heckler in the crowd following his first-round knockout win.

The dual Melbourne Storm premiership-winning enforcer apologised for losing his head "in the heat of the moment" and jumping over the ring to lash out at the spectator.

The two-metre tall, 140kg man mountain pulled back instead of landing a huge right hander on the sledger, like the half-a-dozen in which he savagely ended Gallen's career on Friday night.

While accepting he should not have behaved like that, Asofa-Solomona said he was racially provoked, having screamed "f*** you, f*** all you c***s" from the ring before storming the crowd at Sydney's TikTok Entertainment Centre.

"Someone was doing an ape gesture. I stood on the ropes and it looked like someone threw something at me and I just lost it," he said.

"If I had my time back, I would, because that's not on. But what that guy did to me, in terms of that gesture, is not on either.

"It was a mix of the adrenaline, but I don't tolerate that bull----, and once I saw it, I just saw red.

"But if I could have my time back, I wouldn't do that."

Police spoke with promoters back stage after the incident.

No Limit Boxing boss George Rose told AAP his team would meet with Asofa-Solomona to see if the unbeaten heavyweight wants to pursue the alleged culprit.

"We'll have a yarn with Nelson before deciding what he wants to do," Rose said on Saturday.

Gallen virtually had no say in what he wants to do after being battered into submission and unconsciousness several minutes in a vicious beat-down.

"Well, it's official, Father Time is undefeated and that's it for me," the 45-year-old crossover warrior posted to fans on Instagram.

"Thanks to No Limit for sending me to hospital to make sure I'm OK.

"I'm fine now, no issues guys. I'm home now, safe and sound. That's the most important thing, to get home to my family safe and sound.

"So life goes on. It's one of those games - you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

"In the heavyweight division, things can change in a split second and big NAS changed it in a split second.

"So well done, mate. I've got no issues with it. You done a great job but I'm fine. Fit and healthy and life goes on."
