Jordyn Palmer, the No. 7 women's basketball prospect in the 2027 SC Next 100, has committed to South Carolina, she announced Friday evening.
The 6-foot-1 wing from Westtown School in Pennsylvania chose Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks over Ohio State, UCLA and Penn State.
Her commitment cements South Carolina as the No. 1 recruiting class for this cycle.
"My recruiting process was definitely hard," Palmer told ESPN. "But South Carolina felt like home. The atmosphere of the campus was amazing, and the coaching staff was awesome and welcoming. I felt that it was the best option for me to be coached by the greatest."
Palmer is a highly productive player with elite accomplishments at every level so far. She has won the past two Pennsylvania Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year awards -- the latter after averaging 23.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 3.3 blocks per game as a junior.
With Philly Rise at July's Nike Nationals, she averaged 19.3 points and 7.2 rebounds on a 27% usage rate. She also earned MVP honors at the FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup this summer, leading the United States to the championship while averaging 18.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and a tournament-leading 4.2 steals and shooting 66.1% from the field. In the gold medal game against Canada, Palmer had 24 points and 13 rebounds.
Palmer's combination of size, ball skills and finishing allows her to fill several offensive roles. Her ability to initiate a possession, attack downhill in transition and play the wing or forward position is a major separator in her game. Continued development as a dependable 3-point shooter will influence how broadly that versatility translates to the college level.
Defensively, Palmer has the size and savvy to match up with wings or forwards.
Palmer becomes the fourth commitment in South Carolina's 2027 recruiting class, joining No. 4 point guard Jezelle "GG" Banks, No. 18 post Zaniya Johnson and No. 30 point guard Taylor Brown. The addition of Palmer makes this a well-rounded haul for Staley, giving South Carolina another interchangeable player for its deep frontcourt.
Since 2021, the Gamecocks have been a perennial top-five recruiting stop, and -- including this 2027 class -- they have secured 19 five-star players in that span.
The Gamecocks open the season Nov. 2 against Maryland in the Oui Play event in Paris (noon ET, ESPN).
