TEMPE, Ariz. -- Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is set to return to the field Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium after missing the past two weeks with an ankle injury.
Arizona coach Mike LaFleur said Friday that Love will "be good" to play this weekend and will not have any restrictions on what he can do.
"We're never going to put a guy out there that we don't think can obviously benefit the team -- benefit, in this case, the offense," LaFleur said. "So, I'll keep it at that. But he's out there for a reason, and we expect him to go."
Love said that the rest was needed and that he feels "pretty good."
"It helped me get back to myself," he said. "So, hopefully, I can go out there and execute."
Love said the last two games were the first games he has missed since high school.
LaFleur emphasized that the Cardinals won't play a player who's not ready, especially those who touch the football.
"If they're not dynamic within their own ability, I mean, let's get the next guy up," LaFleur said. "So, I mean we feel good. He feels good enough to go out there and produce, and [we] look forward to having him back out there."
Love said his ankle injuries this season impacted him "quite a bit." Love explained that he thinks his second ankle injury happened in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. However, there's been a discrepancy in which ankle was injured when.
LaFleur has said that Love injured his left ankle earlier this season after spraining his right in the preseason. However, on Friday, Love said he sprained his left in the preseason and his right earlier in the regular season.
Either way, Love said that, for a player like him, having healthy ankles is imperative.
"I am myself when I got my ankles," Love said. "I feel like, as a running back or as a receiver, a lot of the moves that we do with our ankles and knees and stuff like that, I like to come to complete stops. It impacted me quite a bit."
LaFleur said that no player is fully healthy at this point of the season but that, after resting his left ankle for the past two weeks, Love is "feeling as good as he can feel."
Earlier reports indicate that Love suffered a right ankle injury in Arizona's second preseason game, and he didn't practice until Week 1, when he made his NFL debut against the Los Angeles Chargers. He then reportedly injured his left ankle early in the season and played on it until Week 5 before missing the next two games.
"I just want to go out there and be myself," Love said. "I feel like the past few games, for really the whole season, I haven't really been able to go out there and just feel like myself.
"I just feel like I just can't go or I couldn't go out there and just do what I wanted to."
