News: 6 hours agoWilliams returned two kickoffs for 47 yards and failed to haul in his lone target during the Patriots' 30-24 loss to the Bears on Thursday.

Spin: It was the second game in a row in which Williams saw one target from Drake Maye, and the second-year pro's 21 offensive snaps were fourth-most among Patriots wide receivers. He's been surpassed by Efton Chism in the passing game, and with A.J. Brown back in the mix, it seems like most of Williams' impact moving forward will be on kickoffs as a returner. His playing time will take an even greater hit upon the returns of Mack Hollins (calf) and Romeo Doubs (shoulder) from injured reserve. The Patriots will stay on the road for Week 8 against the Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 1.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Williams showed some flashes as a rookie, but he has a tough path to a Year 2 breakout. The 2025 third-round pick didn't see the field much (31% snap share), but he scored three touchdowns on 21 targets, all of which came from Week 10 on. He was utilized as a situational deep threat (17.6 aDOT), which led to a low catch rate (48%) but plenty of big plays (20.9 YPR). That role may not change much in 2026, as Williams will now compete with newcomers A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, as well as incumbents DeMario Douglas and Mack Hollins for targets in a good New England offense led by Drake Maye. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a path to fantasy consistency and is best stashed only in dynasty.
