The World Series contenders are beginning to separate themselves on the odds board, while some disappointing favorites from the preseason continue to drift.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are still the title favorites at +215, but the New York Yankees have gained significant ground, moving to +600 for the World Series after entering the season at 10-1 and finishing April at +750. The Atlanta Braves moved into the third-favorite slot at +900, supplanting the Seattle Mariners, who are still at 11-1.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs, hot off an active 15-game home winning streak, have improved to a fourth-best +950 from 13-1 the week prior.
On the flip side, two prominent preseason World Series favorites continue to slide down the odds board amid miserable seasons. The New York Mets, who were a fourth-best 13-1 for the championship before the season, are down to 55-1 after showing 40-1 one week prior. The Boston Red Sox, a sixth-best 16-1 before the season, have fallen to 50-1 after ending April at 30-1.
