Tennessee assistant coach William Inge, 52, has been hospitalized for undisclosed reasons, the school announced Thursday.
"Tennessee linebackers coach William Inge has been in the hospital dealing with a personal medical issue," the statement read. "Coach Inge and his family appreciate your prayers and support, and we ask that you respect their privacy at this time."
On Friday, the Vols posted a message from Inge on social media thanking them for their prayers but not elaborating on his illness:
"I am fighting this illness just like our team fights on Saturdays on the field," the message read in part. "I look forward to supporting our team and wish them well tomorrow. GBO."
