Ever since news broke on Nov. 30, 2025, that Lane Kiffin would be taking the LSU job, folks in Oxford had Ole Miss' Week 3 game against the Tigers circled as the revenge opportunity of a lifetime. On Saturday night, the Rebels made the most of the opportunity -- on and off the field.
It didn't take long for Ole Miss to take control in its marquee matchup with its former coach. The Rebels raced out to a 24-7 first-half lead, finding the end zone on the ground via Kewan Lacy and through the air thanks to a pair of touchdown passes from Trinidad Chambliss.
LSU rushed back to tie the score in the second half, but Ole Miss answered as a 14-yard scamper by Chambliss again gave the Rebels the lead, an advantage they wouldn't relinquish again. The Tigers got into a goal-to-go situation in the final minutes, but Ole Miss held firm.
But the revenge tour for the Rebels wasn't over when play on the gridiron ended. As Ole Miss fans celebrated in the stands, a certain song came over the speakers at Vaught Hemingway Stadium: "Callin' Baton Rouge."

Ole Miss also took to X to repost LSU's final score post with a video trolling LSU and Kiffin, including an old clip of Kiffin saying "I needed Oxford and Ole Miss a lot more than they needed me."
A messy conclusion to the saga of Kiffin's return to Oxford has been a long time coming. In addition to Kiffin's original decampment, the ensuing offseason provided plenty of fodder for further tension.
There was the departure of former Rebels players to join Kiffin in Baton Rouge, even leading to lawsuits in some cases. There was May's Vanity Fair article on Kiffin in which he mused that at Ole Miss he faced problems with certain recruitments because "[Players would say], 'Hey, Coach, we really like you. But my grandparents aren't letting me move to Oxford, Mississippi.'"
But that was the offseason. On Saturday, Ole Miss secured the last laugh for the foreseeable future.
