East Carolina Pirates vs. Alabama Crimson Tide: Game Highlights (1:13)

With college football back in full swing for Week 1 of the new season, team social media pages were up to the task with the trolls as well Saturday.

From regional jokes to shots at notable alumni, the online jabs from teams after season-starting wins were aplenty. One notable troll came from Alabama, which took a shot at East Carolina following a dominant 48-10 win in Tuscaloosa.

The troll came in the form of mascot-themed wordplay, with the Crimson Tide spoofing ECU's Pirates moniker. The caption of Alabama's final score post on X? "Shipwrecked."

Here are all the top jabs from Week 1 of the college football season

San Jose State 27, Eastern Michigan 21

After a Week 0 loss to USC, San Jose State was able to get in the win column for the first time this fall against Eastern Michigan. Spartans quarterback Luke Weaver threw the ball 39 times, amassing 316 passing yards and a trio of touchdowns.

The Eagles' most notable active NFL alumnus -- Maxx Crosby -- was the subject of San Jose State's troll, with the Spartans captioning their final score post "win MAXXing."

Massachusetts 37, Rutgers 21

Before Thursday, it had been 1,104 days since the last time Massachusetts walked out of a game with a winning record. That streak is no longer, thanks to the Minutemen's unlikely Week 1 upset of Rutgers. Projected as 29.5-point underdogs on the road, Massachusetts instead racked up 37 points for the largest FBS upset since Kansas (+31) defeated Texas in 2021.

After securing the win, the Minutemen made sure to reference the disparity of their conference affiliation with that of the Scarlet Knights, with players proudly holding up a MAC flag in a post captioned "B1G Dub."

Utah 66, Idaho 14

The Utes got rolling in dominant fashion in their season opener against Idaho, racking up 633 yards of offense and finding the end zone at least twice in each quarter. Ten different players registered carries for Utah in the rout, combining for a gaudy 364 yards on the ground.

There was also time for a troll by the Utes once they wrapped up the Thursday night victory -- jabbing at Idaho's famed potato growing tradition with a "small potato stuff" post referencing a line from "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
