Mexico coach Rafael Marquez called Toluca star Alexis Vega, Monterrey veteran Jesús "Tecatito" Corona, and Ballon d'or finalist Julián Quiñones back into his squad Thursday for a pair of Concacaf Nations League matches against Jamaica in November.
Mexico will play a pair of home-and-away matches on Nov. 14 and 17 with a spot in next year's Nations League finals on the line.
Quiñones, who was Mexico's most impactful attacking player at the FIFA World Cup this summer, missed out on the previous national team camp due to injury. Corona, 33, last played for the national team in 2022, but has recently had an uptick in form that has brought him back into the fold.
As for Vega, who also missed out on the last camp after publicly stating that he's considering retirement at the international level, his return has now pushed a possible exit from El Tri further down the line.
Elsewhere in the squad, Mexico will continue to rely on high-profile names such as teenager Gilberto Mora, Porto forward Santiago Gimenez, and Genoa captain Johan Vásquez, among others.
Of the 28, striker Armando Leon is the lone player earning his first-ever senior national team call-up. Currently playing for NK Osijek in Croatia, Leon has gained recent attention thanks to his six goal contributions across 12 appearances this season.
Marquez is still looking for his first win as Mexico's new coach. The former Mexico star saw his team lose twice and draw twice in its four friendlies during the September/October international window.
