LONDON -- Millwall goalkeeper Filip Marschall has alleged that West Ham forward Taty Castellanos spat on him during a hard-fought 2-2 draw on Saturday.
The incident took place in the second half when Millwall were 2-0 ahead when Marschall, who was making his first Millwall start, lodged a complaint with the referee about Castellanos. The two were seen squaring up to each other in the box moments prior.
The Football Association mandates a six-match ban for any player who is found guilty of spitting. Millwall are yet to make an official statement on the incident but confirmed that Marschall had made the allegation.
"I haven't asked him about it, but it's like anything else. I'm sure there'll be footage of it or not of it if it doesn't happen. I'd be extremely surprised if Filip has made an accusation and nothing has happened. But that's not really for me to do," Millwall boss Alex Neil said post-match.
"I didn't know what had happened, I'd just seen Filip walking out with the ball and thinking, 'Where's he going?' And then the fourth official basically said that there was an accusation of spitting. So I don't know," he added.
When asked about the incident, West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: "I'm aware of the allegation. This is the reason I did speak with Taty. I cannot go much further on that.
"But for me to answer that, I have to see it. I'm going to look at the images. I cannot answer [right now]."
Millwall raced into a 2-0 goal lead at half-time through goals from Caleb Taylor and Camiel Neghli to stun the Championship leaders.
The hosts looked set for a first win over the Hammers since 2004 before substitute Mohamadou Kanté scored a fine goal from outside the box in the 74th minute before Konstantinos Mavropanos completed the comeback six minutes later.
There was further late drama as Kanté was sent off near full time for bringing down Kyrell Lisbie when he was through on goal. However, there wasn't enough time left in the game for Millwall to press their man advantage.
