Inter Milan have paid tribute to one-club man and Italy great Sandro Mazzola after his death at the age of 83.
The striker won four Serie A titles and two European Cups with Inter across his near 20 years with the San Siro side, while Mazzola also won the European Championship with Italy in 1968 and was a World Cup runner-up two years later in 1970.
Inter said on X: "There are those who enter history. And then there are those who become the very history of Inter itself.
"From a young Nerazzurri boy to an eternal symbol, Sandro Mazzola has spanned generations, winning, thrilling, and passing down the love for these colours.
"He shone on the field, and he shines even now, the star with the moustache. Who, as he often said, had just one, final wish: To be remembered as a good man, who always gives his all, even when it seems impossible."
Mazzola made 567 appearances for Inter, scoring 161 goals, between 1960 and 1977 and founded the Italian Footballers' Association in 1968. He scored 22 goals for Italy over 70 caps.
He later worked as a sporting director at Inter and Torino and also as a commentator, notably covering Italy's World Cup final victories in both 1982 and 2006.
