Play By Play

That's all from me for now. Thanks for joining us and see you again next time!

It's all over, and it's two wins from two for the USA following a comfortable 2-0 victory over Australia as the co-hosts booked their place in the knockout rounds! The USA took the lead when Burgess scored an own goal after 11 minutes and Freeman added a second just before half-time, with a VAR review required to ensure his header was allowed to stand. Popovic made three changes at half-time, but there was no deviation in Australia's approach to the game, as they continued to sit back and let the USA control possession. The Socceroos eventually started to threaten, but it was too little too late, with the hosts having very little to worry about as they saw out the three points. The USA only managed one shot in the second half, which added just 0.1 to their xG from the opening period. Still, with Australia only mustering three efforts for a combined xG of 0.32, their win never really looked in doubt. The result means that if Turkiye do not beat Paraguay later, the USA will be guaranteed to finish top of the group and face a third-placed team in the round of 32. Australia, meanwhile, will have to wait and see what they'll need to do to advance in their final match against Paraguay. That's all for today, thanks for joining us, goodbye!

90'+9'

FULL-TIME: USA 2-0 AUSTRALIA.

90'+7'

Wright gets away on the left and dribbles along the top of the box before finally pulling the trigger. The shot is blocked and the flag goes up for an offside decision in the build-up anyway.

90'+6'United StatesSubstitution

There's a great reception for McKennie, who makes way for Reyna.

90'+6'United StatesSubstitution

Balogun's game is done and he goes off to a standing ovation, with Wright replacing him.

90'+5'

Zwayer has a word with the doctor and is eventually back to his feet, allowing play to continue.

90'+4'

Now the referee, Felix Zwayer, is down and getting treated for cramp!

90'+3'United StatesYellow Card

Richards goes into the book for a tactical foul.

90'+3'

THAT WAS A CHANCE! Berhalter sets Balogun on his way and he helps the ball over to Tillman on the left. He attempts to slide it back into the middle for Balogun, but he overhits it and the USA aren't able to put the game to bed.

90'+1'

We're into the first of six added minutes now.

89'AustraliaYellow Card

And Italiano earns a needless yellow too, after his altercation with Trusty.

89'United StatesYellow Card

Balogun also goes into the book for putting his arm around Souttar's neck while challenging for a header.

88'AustraliaYellow Card

Souttar goes into the book for his reaction to Balogun's antics – putting his arm around the USA attacker's neck too.

88'

Things get a bit heated between Souttar and Balogun, and then Trusty goes to ground following a confrontation with Italiano.

85'

HUGE CHANCE FOR AUSTRALIA! Italiano stands a looping cross up at the back post and Bos cuts it back into the middle. Souttar can't connect but Geria does, although his effort is blocked by Adams. The referee then seems to belatedly blow his whistle for a free-kick to the USA somewhere in the melee.

84'

Irankunda goes down in the box following a collision with Richards and Australia appeal for a penalty but the referee is unmoved. Irvine pushes forward on the left and earns a corner with his cross going behind off Richards.

82'

The USA have really stepped off the gas here. Australia are enjoying a greater deal of possession and have already managed to put in a few good crosses. Another delivery from the right, this time from Metcalfe, bends narrowly away from Bos at the back post.

80'United StatesSubstitution

Robinson heads off too, with Trusty replacing him for the final 10 minutes.

80'United StatesSubstitution

Dest is off now, with Scally on in his place.

79'

Volpato is down and clutching his face after being caught in the face by Robinson's hand. There was very little in it, so it's unsurprising that play is soon back underway with no repercussions for either player.

78'AustraliaSubstitution

Irvine is on in place of Okon-Engstler, with Popovic clearly deciding it was best to get him off.

76'

Volpato does well to create some space on the right and whip a cross into the box, but it doesn't find a team-mate. Geria picks up the loose ball and pings another delivery into the area. Again, though, it's dealt with by the USA.

75'

Okon-Engstler gets a speaking to from the referee, so you assume he's one bad challenge away from a yellow card now.

74'United StatesSubstitution

The USA make their first change, with Berhalter coming on for Pepi.
