Play By Play

Jayed blows his whistle for the final time at the Houston Stadium, and it's a resounding 7-1 hammering for Germany over Curacao in Group E. Comenencia made history for his nation by scoring Curacao's first World Cup goal to cancel out Nmecha's early opener. But, that's as good as it got, with Germany 3-1 up at the break as Schlotterbeck headed home and Havertz netted from the penalty spot. Musiala stretched the lead shortly after the restart, before Brown and Undav got in on the act. Havertz then provided a wonderful clipped finish to complete the most comfortable of victories late on, as Germany – who had a vastly superior xG of 3.91 to 0.4 – started in style. A much tougher test is in store when they face the Ivory Coast next Saturday, while Curacao will hope for a better result when they play Ecuador in their second group game. Thanks for joining us for this one, folks, until next time!

90'+5'

FULL-TIME: GERMANY 7-1 CURACAO

90'+4'

Raum clips in a free-kick, it's knocked back by Havertz, and Goretzka can't sort out his feet.

90'+2'

It's literally just a countdown to full-time for Germany.

90'

There will be five minutes of additional time to play here.

88'

It was a lovely throughball from Undav, who has contributed well since coming on.

88'GermanyGoal

GOOOOOALLLLLL! Make that 7-1 to Germany! Havertz has his second of the game, the Arsenal striker latching onto Undav's throughball, and then beautifully clipped over Room. It really is a lovely goal, but you have to feel for Curacao.

86'

Raum now gets in behind one-on-one but his low drive to the near post is saved by the legs of Room, who gathers the spinning ball afterwards.

85'

Curacao take their first corner of the game, but it causes Germany absolutely no danger.

83'CuraçaoSubstitution

Chong has arguably been Curacao's best player, but his game is over as Kastaneer gets a run out.

83'GermanySubstitution

Nagelsmann makes a change too, as the ageless Kimmich is replaced by Anton. It's been another top-drawer performance from the Bayern Munich ace.

82'

Sane wins a corner up against Fonville. Raum swings it in from the left, but it's wildly overhit and goes out of play for a goal-kick.

80'

Into the final 10 minutes plus injury time we go then, and it's just a matter of how many Germany will win by now. They'll fancy there are a couple more out there.

78'

It was more good work from Kimmich, who coolly just held up the ball instead of shooting before laying into the path of Undav.

78'GermanyGoal

GOOOOOAAAAALL! Who for? Need you ask? Substitute Undav makes it 6-1. Germany again just knock it around in the penalty area so easily, and Kimmich could have shot himself from Havertz's pass, but he lays it into Undav, who almost scuffs it home via a touch off Leandro Bacuna.

77'

Germany take one pass too many as Havertz tees up Sane, whose lofted cross is gathered easily by Room.

75'

Sadly, it really is just a case of counting down to full-time now. Curacao have had their moments, but overall it's been a real gulf in quality. Margaritha does get a flashed shot away from the left of the area, but it was quite comfortably over the top.

73'GermanySubstitution

And another scorer takes a seat on the bench, as Brown is replaced by Raum.

73'GermanySubstitution

Nmecha, who started the scoring is off then, as Goretzka enters the fray for Germany,

73'GermanySubstitution

Tah takes a seat to be replaced by Real Madrid ace Rudiger.

72'

Germany are lining up a trio of changes for the final stage of this clash.

70'

It barely even feels worth mentioning Opta's win probability as we reach the second hydration break, but let's do it for comedy value anyway...Germany lead 5-1, and have a win probability of...100%! So, let's not bother with the final 20 minutes, eh?

68'

It was a sensational flick by Undav to pick out Brown, and he grabs an assist off the bench.

68'GermanyGoal - Volley

GOOOOOOAAAAAL! GERMANY LEAD 5-1 THROUGH BROWN! It's another wonderful move by Germany, and Undav's exquisite little flick falls into the path of Brown, who drills home! It was mightily close to being offside, but he's on, and it's a first international goal for the full-back.

67'

GOOOA-no...the most offside goal you'll see. Leandro Bacuna tapes in from Obispo's lay off, but the former was already way offside. Barely even worth a mention, but ho...
