Two-time defending Champions League winners PSG make a real statement of intent, as their quest for the three-peat begins with a 6-1 rout of Slovan Bratislava. Ferran Torres marked his European bow for the club with a hat-trick, while Ousmane Dembele scored twice, and Fabian Ruiz was also on target for Luis Enrique's side, who had an xG of 4.71 to their opponents' 0.64. They hit the front in the 17th minute when Dembele drilled home after Mendes rattled the post, with the former adding a second six minutes later, nodding in from Fernandez's deflected cross. Dembele turned provider in the 31st minute, with his delicious centre guided in by Torres. The World Cup winner bent home his second goal from the edge of the box within two minutes of the restart. He then completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute when bundling in from Dembele's corner. The impressive Suleiman Camara scored a magnificent individual goal soon after to give Yaya Toure's side something to shout about. However, PSG had the final word, with Fabian Ruiz making it six with three minutes remaining. They will now look to channel that momentum on Sunday, when they travel to Brest seeking their first win of the Ligue 1 season. Despite the scoreline, Slovan have given a decent account of themselves here. There's definitely plenty of individual quality in their ranks. That will encourage Toure, as he aims to oversee an improved campaign from their eight straight defeats from two seasons ago.
The defending champions continue to go in search of more goals. The ball is cut back from the right side with Godts arriving late in the box, but he can't steer his first-time attempt on target.
PSG have some tough tests to navigate during this league phase. Luis Enrique's side will also face Manchester City, Barcelona, Villarreal, Roma, Aston Villa, Como and Galatasaray. While this was never going to be their most difficult assignment, it's one that will give them plenty of confidence and momentum to build on.
FABIAN RUIZ GETS HIS GOAL!!! 6-1! PSG quickly take a corner, and Fernandez has space in the right side of the box. His cross is only cleared straight to Fabian Ruiz, whose first-time shot nestles in the far corner past a flat-footed Takac. PSG have six.
Good defending. Slovan look to finish with a flourish. Blackman's in an advanced position from right-back. He looks to square the ball across the area for Mustafic, but Digne makes a well-timed sliding intervention to deny him.
Granted, the victory's in the bag, but that was so sloppy from a player of Vitinha's quality. His tally of 1,589 passes last season was the most by any player in a single edition of the Champions League on record. That wasn't one of his best, though.
SULEIMAN CAMARA GOES CLOSE AGAIN! He's not done himself any harm whatsoever today! Vitinha's uncharacteristically loose in possession, passing the ball sideways just outside the penalty area. It's picked up by Camara, who curls one towards the far corner, but Safonov springs across well to push the shot away.
Two of those PSG subs look to combine as Beraldo switches the play towards Digne on the left flank. However, there's just too much on the ball, and it goes behind for a goal-kick.
Mayulu, like all of PSG's substitutes, is keen to make an impact. He accelerates into space and shoots from the edge of the box, but it's straight at Takac.
Another change for the visitors sees Gajdos introduced for the final 10 minutes, with Martinez making way.
Sporar hands over the captain's armband as he makes way to be replaced by Maros.
Slovan threaten to pull another goal back. A low cross from Sporar ricochets kindly into the path of the onrushing Marcelli, who's denied by Safonov. However, the offside flag then goes up against Sporar from the build-up.
NOT FAR OFF! Fabian Ruiz tries his luck from distance once more. His fizzing 25-yard drive isn't too far over, though Takac watches it all the way.
Torres will have to settle for three goals today! The hat-trick hero is given a very well-earned rest, with Beraldo on in his place.
Slovan have the opportunity to pull another goal back when they're awarded a free-kick after Digne's late challenge. However, they can't breach the PSG defence for a second time.
Torres, hungry for more goals, tries his luck from the edge of the box. This time, he can't keep his effort down, though.
GREAT DEFENDING! Akliouche, who's been very impressive today, almost grabs another assist. He very nearly puts the ball on a plate for Torres in the six-yard box. However, a superb last-ditch intervention from Markovic denies the Spaniard a tap-in.
GODTS GOES CLOSE! The substitute is desperate to get in on the act. He looks for the near post with a sweeping shot, but it's just wide of the target.
The last of the flurry of PSG changes sees Mendes make way for Mayulu, the scorer of the last goal when they thrashed Inter 5-0 in the 2025 Champions League final.
There'll be no hat-trick for Dembele, though he can be pleased with his day's work. He is withdrawn for Godts.
Pacho, who has started all 35 of PSG's Champions League games since the start of 2024-25, is given a breather and replaced by Hernandez.
THAT LOOKED LIKE A PENALTY! Suleiman Camara's causing problems for PSG with his pace once again. He looks to accelerate into the area beyond Pacho, who brings him down with his challenge. The referee isn't interested, much to the winger's dismay. Although, replays suggest he may just have got enough on the ball for it to not warrant a foul.
Slovan make a couple of changes. Barseghyan is replaced by Marcelli in the first of them.
