Bayern Munich produce a scintillating second-half display to ruthlessly put Bodo/Glimt to the sword 5-0 at the Allianz Arena. It's a statement of intent from the six-time European Cup/Champions League winners on the opening matchday of this season's competition. Michael Olise played a starring role with two goals and an assist, while Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies also got on the scoresheet. Bayern, who had an xG of 2.49 to their opponents' measly 0.2, endured a frustrating first half, with Nikita Haikin making some smart saves to keep them at bay. However, the Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper was forced off at half-time through injury, and the floodgates opened within two minutes of the resumption. Musiala broke the deadlock when he fired home a volley from a tight angle, while Kane doubled the lead when he nodded in Olise's free-kick just after the hour mark. Davies made it 3-0 on 77 minutes with a 20-yard thunderbolt, though Olise arguably went one better when he curled in from 25 yards out six minutes later. The visitors were reduced to 10 men soon after. Odin Bjortuft was given his marching orders for a professional foul after clipping the heels of Olise. The latter had the final word in stoppage time, pouncing on sloppy possession before whipping a shot past a helpless Julian Faye Lund in the Bodo/Glimt goal. Bayern are up and running, and will look to maintain their momentum when they travel to Elversberg in the Bundesliga on Sunday. Bodo/Glimt will want to put this behind them as quickly as possible. OLISE GETS HIS SECOND!!! 5-0 BAYERN! They're finishing with a flourish. Bodo/Glimt are sloppy in possession, and Olise is onto the loose ball in a flash. He glides towards the area and curls the ball towards goal with very little backlift. The despairing Lund can only help the shot into the roof of the net.
Good blocks! Bayern are looking for a fifth goal that would put the icing on the cake. Kane and Bischof shoot for goal on the edge of the area, but both their attempts are blocked by well-placed defenders. Stanisic tries his luck from distance soon after, but he's wide of the mark.
Bayern's attacking quality speaks for itself, but the other end of the field is also worth a mention today. Indeed, Neuer is appearing in his 18th Champions League season, a new record for any German player. He's close to marking the occasion with a clean sheet.
RED CARD FOR BJORTUFT! Bodo/Glimt down to 10 men! A difficult day for the visitors gets even worse. Olise looks to get on the end of a throughball, but has his heels clipped just outside the box. Bjortuft is the guilty party, and the referee shows him a red card.
Lovely feet again from Olise, as he dances away from a couple of challenges. He tries his luck again from distance. This time, though, his effort is straight at Lund.
For large periods of this game, it had been far from vintage from Bayern. They can be forgiven for that. At this early stage in the competition, the win is the most important thing. However, they've certainly turned it on in this second half, especially in the last few minutes with those two superb goals.
Karl, just on as a substitute, gets the assist after feeding the ball into Olise, who did the rest in the most spectacular fashion.
OH, C'EST MAGNIFIQUE!!! WHAT A GOAL FROM OLISE! 4-0 BAYERN! Davies' goal was special, but that may have just topped it! Olise is found in space a good 25 yards from goal. He opens his body and bends one towards the far corner, with Lund only able to wave at the ball as it goes past him and nestles in the back of the net. This is more like the Bayern everybody knows and loves!
The final ball's just lacking again for Bayern. Kane peels away from his marker to receive Olise's pass. Yet it's just out of the striker's reach.
Bjorkan also makes way with Maatta taking his place.
There's activity on the visitors' bench, too. Helmersen's number goes up, with Brynhildsen replacing him.
Off goes Kimmich as well, with the midfielder replaced by Bischof for the last 10 minutes.
Davies, fresh from scoring the pick of today's goals, also makes way to be replaced by Ito.
Kompany shuffles his pack with the result almost certainly beyond doubt. Diaz is given a breather and replaced by Karl.
OH MY WORD, WHAT A STRIKE!!! 3-0 BAYERN! A speed-of-light strike from Davies secures the victory! Olise's corner is not properly dealt with by Bodo/Glimt. Their second attempt to get the ball away only reaches the edge of the box. There, Davies runs onto the ball, and unleashes a blistering strike into the far corner. The ball flashes past Lund before the goalkeeper knows it. The three points are in the bag now.
Good idea from Kane. The England captain looks to clip a ball over the top of the defence for Saibari to run onto. It just evades his team-mate, though, and the goalkeeper can gather.
That will frustrate Knudsen. Bodo/Glimt halt a Bayern attack in their own penalty area, and have the chance to counter. However, they hesitate as they work their way up the field, and end up coming backwards. That sucks all the momentum out of their attack, and the hosts now have plenty of men behind the ball.
The industrious Kitolano, who has worked hard for the visitors today, can't continue and limps off. Saltnes comes on in his place.
TIME FOR SOME PINBALL IN THE BODO/GLIMT BOX! It's all hands to the pump for the visitors, as their opponents go for a third goal. They make a series of important blocks in their own area to deny Saibari and Diaz in quick succession.
NEUER'S OFF HIS LINE! Kimmich is sloppy in possession on halfway, and Helmersen steals it from him. The striker goes for goal just inside the Bayern half. Neuer's nowhere to be seen, but thankfully for him, the effort drifts just wide of the target.
Saibari, the summer signing from PSV, makes his Champions League bow for Bayern. He replaces Musiala for the final quarter of the game.
Bayern, meanwhile, make two changes. Stanisic replaces Laimer in the first of them.
Bodo/Glimt make their second change of this game, following the half-time swap in goal. Hauge, who impressed during last season's competition, comes on for Fet.
