Play By Play

Bodo/Glimt pulled off another upset in European competition as they got their Champions League campaign up and running with a 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund. They were by far the better side in the first half, with Fet going close to breaking the deadlock with an effort at goal that narrowly missed the target. Helmersen missed a couple of opportunities right after the break, but the opener arrived in the 52nd minute after Sjovold met Auklend's cross with a smart finish. Despite that impressive form, Dortmund were below par for large parts of the match. They were much improved towards the end, as Nwaneri missed a golden opportunity with a free header. Bodo/Glimt ended the match with an xG of 1.13, compared to 0.78 for Dortmund. They have moved up to 24th in the league, while Dortmund drop to 18th. That's all from me, thank you and goodbye!

90'+2'

HUGE SAVE IN THE DYING MINUTES! Haikin is positioned at his near post to keep out an effort from Nmecha!

90'

There will be just two minutes of additional time for the second half.

87'

The action is now almost entirely confined to the Bodo/Glimt half as Dortmund pile on the pressure. However, their momentum is briefly halted as Nwaneri's searching cross drifts out of play, prompting him to raise a hand in apology.

85'

Bellinhgam has improved in this second half, but he's penalised for a needless foul on Brynhildsen. Bodo/Glimt are now able to move up the pitch and waste a bit of time, as the clock continues to tick down.

82'

SO CLOSE! Ryerson picks out Bellingham inside the area. He feeds a pass across the six-yard box, with Sjovold nearly scoring an own goal with hs clearance from just yards out. The resulting corner leads to Nwaneri being picked out in space, but his shot is blocked from close range. It's beginning to get desperate for the home side.

80'

10 minutes of normal time to go, and the Dortmund threat has just eased in the last few moments of this one. Nevertheless, Bodo/Glimt still have work to do if they are to secure all three points.

78'Bodo/GlimtSubstitution

The Norwegian side finally make their first substitution, with Brynhildsen coming on for Hauge.

77'Borussia DortmundSubstitution

Another Dortmund change as Chukwuemeka replaces Beier.

75'

Bodo/Glimt are still yet to make a change this evening, despite just 15 minutes of normal time remaining. They still have work to do if they are to see this game out and win their first match of the league phase this season in the Champions League.

73'

ANOTHER MISSED CHANCE! Bensebaini has plenty of time to deliver a dangerous cross from the left, aimed perfectly for the unmarked Nwaneri with the header. However, the teenager can only direct his effort straight into the clutches of Haikin. Dortmund may end up rueing that missed opportunity.

70'

20 minutes of normal time to go and Dortmund are beginning to control the game in terms of possession, as they search for an equaliser. The likes of Nwaneri and Nmecha are taking up intelligent positions and stretching the Bodo/Glimt defence. They have been too passive during this match, but they do now look threatening going forward.

67'

CHANCE FOR DORTMUND! They create an opening down the left and Guirassy arrives at the six-yard box to apply the finish, but it trickles past the post via a deflection. Bodo/Glimt then clear their lines from the resulting corner. They are starting to look vulnerable for the first time this evening.

65'

The German side are beginniing to pose a greater attacking threat, suggesting that the changes may be having the desired effect. However, Bodo/Glimt do look dangerous on the counter-attack, with their quick combinations causing problems in transition.

62'

Nmecha nearly comes up with the most heroic of introductions, as he finds a bit of space and tries his luck from 30 yards out. His effort is goal-bound, but Haikin dives to his right and makes a strong save. Dortmund win a couple of corners, but Bodo/Glimt deal with the threat.

60'Borussia DortmundSubstitution

Ryerson makes his return, replacing the quiet Inacio.

60'Borussia DortmundSubstitution

Karetsas has slown flashes but he comes off for Nwaneri.

60'Borussia DortmundSubstitution

Silva has worked hard but it's not been his night, and he comes off for Guirassy.

60'Borussia DortmundSubstitution

Dortmund make their first change as Veerman is replaced by Nmecha.

59'

Better from the away side as Karetsas stretches the hosts' backline with a fine run and picks out Bellingham. The English midfielder has been largely anonymous tonight, and he can't make the most of the chance after blazing a shot over the crossbar.

57'

Dortmund have lost their last three away games in the Champions League – if they lose here, they would equal their longest away losing streak in the European Cup/Champions League (four losses on two occasions, between 1956 and 1958 & 2019 and 2020). They need a goal from somewhere.

55'

Dortmund have offered very little in the way of a response since conceding, and it simply has not been their night so far, despite arriving at this encounter on an impressive unbeaten run. Karetsas tries to thread a pass through for Silva inside the Bodo/Glimt penalty area, but it's overhit.

52'

Auklend bags the assist after his pinpoint cross, and Dortmund now must respond.

52'Bodo/GlimtGoal

GOOOALLL!!! BODO/GLIMT FINALLY BREAK THE DEADLOCK! Completely deserved! It's well worked as Berg picks out the run from Auklend down the right flank and he sets up Sjovold to find the net from close range! Bodo/Glimt 1-0 Borussia Dortmund.

50'

The second half has begun much like the first, with Bodo/Glimt dominating possession and pinnning Dortmund back inside their own half.
