After a first half sparse of clear-cut chances, Palace in particular flew out of the blocks in the second period, racking up 0.76 xG with early openings for Pino and Kamada. Both Palace forwards tested Trafford before the Leeds number one was beaten in the most contentious moment of the match; Mitchell followed in to score from a deflected Khalaili cross, only for VAR to catch the wing-back fractionally offside in the build-up and rule the goal out. Undeterred, Pierre Sage's side continued to create chances for Strand Larsen, Pino, Wharton and Kamada late on, but Leeds reasserted themselves in both defence and attack to finish strong and produce 1.36 xG themselves. Opportunities came and went for Calvert-Lewin, who forced the best save of the match from Benitez, but Leeds ultimately failed to find a way through Palace's defence and are kept scoreless for the first time this season. With just minutes left on the clock, it's worth noting that before kick-off, Palace had faced the most xG (8.15), conceded the most goals (11), faced the joint-most shots on target (26) and allowed their opponents the most touches in their own box (164), of any Premier League team so far this season. Their second-half display in particular has been a massive improvement on those numbers.
