Aston Villa have lift-off in the Premier League, recording their first victory of the season after holding on for a 3-2 win over Tottenham. The damage was done by the 79th minute, when Villa established a 3-0 lead, with Spurs' two late strikes proving academic. The visitors, who had a marginally inferior xG of 1.16 to their opponents' 1.22, took the lead in first-half stoppage time. A poor clearance from Robertson allowed McGinn to tee up Kamara, whose ball towards goal was helped in by Manzambi. It was the latter's first goal on his first start for his new club, and he followed it up with an assist midway through the second half. Indeed, the Switzerland international teed up Jackson, who brilliantly drilled past Kinsky on the half-volley. Buendia made it 3-0 in emphatic fashion 11 minutes from time, magnificently curling into the top corner from 25 yards out. Gallagher climbed off the bench to scramble home Tottenham's first league goal of the season in the 86th minute. Van Hecke headed home another deep into stoppage time, but it couldn't prevent another defeat for Spurs, who drop into the relegation zone ahead of the international break. Their latest quest to get back on track takes them to Old Trafford, where they will face Manchester United on October 10. It was a lovely ball into the box from Robertson, reminiscent of his prime form at Liverpool.
VAN HECKE HEADS IT IN!!! SPURS HAVE ANOTHER GOAL BACK! IT'S 3-2! Robertson steps up and whips a delicious trademark cross towards the far post. Van Hecke attacks it, and powers a header beyond Suzuki. It's all going to be academic, though, with the referee set to blow the final whistle once Villa kick off again.
Spurs have another free-kick in the final minute of stoppage time. This will surely be the last action of the game...
JUST WIDE FROM VAN DE VEN! Spurs continue their late surge. Robertson clips a ball into the box, which his skipper meets at the near post. His header's creeping towards goal, but Suzuki gets across and watches it all the way past the post.
Maddison whips a free-kick towards goal from a tight angle. Suzuki punches it out and Kudus looks to volley towards goal, but sends the ball high into the stands.
Cash is late with his sliding challenge on Savio, and goes into the book. Spurs have a free-kick in a decent position.

Jackson is given a breather after a good day's work for Villa. Abraham, who scored twice against Coventry City in the EFL Cup in midweek, comes on.
Kudus did brilliantly to get to the byline and tee up Gallagher, whose shot deflected in.
SPURS HAVE THEIR GOAL!!! 3-1! GALLAGHER TAKES THE CREDIT! Finally, something for the hosts to cheer about this season, albeit not very loudly. Kudus beautifully skips away from a challenge and cuts the ball back into the six-yard box. Gallagher looks to help it towards goal, though it appears to be going wide before Cash diverts it in. That looks like an own-goal, but it doesn't really matter in the context of this game.
Gallagher is also introduced by De Zerbi, with Tonali making way.
Bentancur makes way for Spurs with Bergvall coming on for the final few minutes.
Kamara is also given a breather, with Mbaye on to take his place.
Both sides make a couple of changes. The first of Villa's sees McGinn make way for Barkley.
The home fans stream for the exits after their side fall 3-0 behind. However, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a very lucky ground for Buendia. He's now scored in three successive Premier League appearances here. The Argentine joins Eberechi Eze and Bryan Mbeumo as the only visiting players to achieve that feat.
McGinn laid the ball off for Buendia, who did the rest in sublime fashion.
OH, WHAT A STRIKE FROM BUENDIA!!! 3-0 VILLA AND, SURELY, GAME OVER! It's the pick of the goals, and Villa have all but secured a morale-boosting victory. Buendia has space from around 25 yards out, and hits the jackpot as he finds Kinsky's top-right corner. The Spurs goalkeeper can only wave at the ball as it nestles in the back of the net.
Spurs just look demoralised and seriously devoid of confidence. At the moment, it seems like a procession to victory for Villa.
We're into the final quarter of an hour, with Villa two goals to the good. There's still time for Spurs, but can they drag themselves off the canvas to get something from this game?
Manzambi, after a goal and an assist, is given a well-earned breather by Emery. He's replaced by academy graduate Hemmings.
Not far away. Spurs desperately seek a response, and Tonali has space to line one up from distance. He's a good 25 yards out, but his curling effort flashes marginally wide of the far post.
Tottenham are now officially Jackson's favourite Premier League opponents. He's now scored five times against Spurs, his highest tally against a single side. It looks like his latest strike will seal Villa's first league win of the season.
