Bournemouth v Sunderland
Play By Play
Bournemouth claim their first Premier League win of the season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Sunderland. It was a routine outing for the Cherries, who could've easily scored more against a hapless Sunderland defence. Tavernier got Bournemouth going after six minutes when Evanilson burst past the Sunderland centre-backs before laying the ball on a plate for his teammate, who nodded home from close range. Sunderland struggled to get a hold on the game and were punished again when Danso was sent off for taking out Evanilson, who was about to run through on goal in the 17th minute. Bournemouth were initially made to work hard for the second, though, after squandering multiple chances, and there remained a growing threat that they would be punished at the other end. It wasn't to be for Sunderland, though, who shot themselves in the foot once again on 48 minutes when Alderete's stray pass allowed Evanilson to round Roefs and slot home a second for the hosts. Bournemouth recorded 4.32 xG in total, compared to the measly 0.07 put up by Sunderland, who failed to record a single shot on target. The hosts now look to a tasty Europa League meeting with AC Milan on Thursday, while Sunderland travel to Lech Poznan in the Conference League on the same day. That's all for this one, thanks for joining us!
FULL-TIME: BOURNEMOUTH 2-0 SUNDERLAND
Sunderland look set to end this game without recording a single shot on target. Danso's red card certainly didn't help, but the visitors looked miles off it from the opening minute at the Vitality Stadium. It's been a really tough outing for the Black Cats.
It's remarkable Bournemouth have only scored two goals today. They've had so many chances, largely due to the terrible defending by the visitors.
KLUIVERT GOES CLOSE!! Bournemouth still retain hopes of bagging a third before this one's done and are so close to doing so through Kluivert. Once again, it's a simple long ball forward which O'Nien fails to deal with and his header forces Hume into a desperate clearance. The ball falls straight to Kluivert, though, who tries to fire a left-footed volley inside the far corner, but the accuracy isn't quite there, and the ball flies just wide.
There will be SIX minutes of stoppage time at the end of the second half. Still a little longer until Sunderland are put out of their misery...

Bournemouth's Gannon-Doak also comes on to replace Rayan.

Bournemouth make more changes as Diakite replaces Adams.
The visitors are desperate for the full-time whistle now. It's been a horrible day for Regis Le Bris' side.
Sunderland are set to suffer their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat for the first time since December 2015 under Sam Allardyce. It's been a far from ideal start to the new season for the Black Cats.
84 minutes on the clock and Sunderland still haven't had a single shot on target in this game. It's fair to say a late comeback by the visitors is looking unlikely at the moment...
Bournemouth get forward again as the hosts free Rayan down the right. The Brazilian then crosses into the box and finds the right foot of Aldi, who flicks the ball towards goal. There's not much power behind the effort, though, and Roefs saves it comfortably.
Now Hume tries his luck with an audacious effort from range, but the Sunderland makes a mess of the shot, which sails high and wide into the crowd.

Bournemouth's Tavernier is also replaced by Adli.

Bournemouth make a couple more changes, with Evanilson first departing for Rodriguez.

Bournemouth's Christie is booked for a tactical foul on Diarra on the halfway line.
Sunderland have enjoyed their best spell in a while over the last couple of minutes, but the quality just hasn't been there for the visitors to pull one back.
Not only could this be Bournemouth's first win of the season, but it could also be their first clean sheet under Marco Rose in the Premier League. The German will be desperate for his side to see out this one without conceding.
Le Fee records Sunderland's second shot of the match with an ambitious volley a few yards outside the Bournemouth box. The shot never looked threatening, though, and Petrovic watches it whistle a few yards wide.
Truffert looks to get in on the action as he lets fly with a left-footed effort from range. The shot is a wild one, though, and the ball whistles several yards over the crossbar.
Bournemouth's xG total is this match stands at 3.83 - only once before have they generated more in a Premier League game (4.05 vs West Ham in November 2025).
IT'S ALMOST MAGICAL FROM EVANILSON!! The Bournemouth forward has been sensational today, and he looks to bag his second with an audacious flick of his right heel after a well-picked-out cross from Rayan. Evanilson can't quite direct the effort on target, though, and Roefs is able to gather.
Sunderland still haven't had a shot on target in this game. The visitors have looked incredibly toothless up front, not helped by injuries and the fact that they've been playing with 10 men since the 17th minute.

Seconds after being shown a yellow card, Sunderland's Rigg is replaced by Ahoka.

Sunderland's Rigg becomes the next player to be shown a yellow card following a tactical foul on Evanilson, who was looking to launch another counter-attack for the hosts.
