News: 1 day agoMorton (coach's decision) is inactive and designated as New England's emergency third quarterback for Thursday's matchup versus Chicago.
Spin: This has become the routine for Morton, who has worked as the Patriots' emergency third quarterback every week so far this season. The role has yet to land the rookie QB any game reps, and he'll be eligible to enter Thursday's contest only if both quarterbacks ahead of him (Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito) are forced to exit due to injury, illness or ejection.
