News: 5 days agoTagovailoa completed 12 of 23 passes for 157 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while rushing four times for four yards in the Dolphins' 21-17 win over the Saints on Sunday.

Spin: Tagovailoa's middling numbers tell the tale of a low-volume, inefficient day for the Dolphins' air attack, one that saw the veteran signal-caller finish with his seventh sub-200-yard tally of the season and lowest figure since Week 7. Tagovailoa also extended his touchdown drought to two games, and he's gone without a scoring toss in four of his last six contests overall. Given recent performances and what could be inclement early-December weather in New York, Tagovailoa doesn't profile as a particularly appealing fantasy option in a Week 14 road clash with the Jets next Sunday.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Tagovailoa returns as the starter in Miami. With the Dolphins seeing two-high safeties on a league-high 56% of pass plays, he went super-conservative, posting a league-low 5.7 aDOT and completing a league-best 73% of his passes. He had a midseason stretch of four straight top-10 fantasy outings, but otherwise had one weekly finish better than 17th (eighth in Week 1). During the 11 weeks he was active, Tagovailoa averaged 16.5 fantasy PPG (14th best). He remains a nonfactor with his legs (below 75 yards three straight seasons, with zero rush TDs during the span), which is why he's never finished a season better than 10th in fantasy PPG. A decent supporting cast led by Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and De'Von Achane keeps Tagovailoa in the weekly streaming mix, but he has a low ceiling due to the limited rushing output.
