Spin: In Cincinnati's preseason opener versus the Lions on Aug. 13, Perine was involved on the two drives in which Joe Burrow was leading the offense, and the running back had a seven-yard carry and gathered in both targets for 12 yards. While spelling Brown out of the backfield in 2025, Perine recorded 469 yards from scrimmage and three rushing TDs on 101 touches in 15 regular-season games. A similar workload can be expected from Perine in the coming campaign.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Perine is expected to resume his role as Chase Brown's primary backup in Cincinnati. The veteran back played 31% of the Bengals' snaps last season, totaling 84 carries and 21 targets. He cleared 400 total yards for the fifth consecutive season, though he has yet to reach 200 touches in a single season in his career, nor has he produced a top-30 fantasy campaign. The 30-year-old has reached double-digit fantasy points three times over the last two seasons and would require a Brown injury in order to flirt with flex appeal. He can be left on waivers.
