News: 5 days agoStafford was 25-for-33 passing for 222 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions during Sunday's 18-16 defeat against the Cardinals.
Spin: Stafford's streak of outings with at least 300 yards passing came to a close at four games, but he offset it with his fourth performance with multiple TD passes through the first six weeks of the season. With the Rams sitting at 2-4 and seeking to right the ship, he does have a get-right game on paper next Sunday in Las Vegas, and he has several talented skill-position players at his disposal, though star wideout Davante Adams exited on the Rams' second-to-last-offensive play of the game Sunday with what may have been a knee injury. However, the team didn't provide any information about Adams' departure or status following the loss, so it's currently very murky as to whether he's in danger of missing any time.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: The reigning NFL MVP, Stafford returns for his 18th NFL season and his fifth with the Rams. The 38-year-old is fresh off an elite season in which he led the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns, which allowed him nine top-10 fantasy weeks (tied for third most at the position). Stafford's third-place finish in fantasy points per game was his first top-10 finish since 2019, and some regression is likely due to a complete lack of rushing (65 or fewer rushing yards in five straight seasons and one rushing touchdown since 2017). Stafford still has receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams and a strong offensive line at his disposal, so another big passing season is possible. That's just enough to keep him in the fringe QB1 mix.
