Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou cut by Bellator

Mixed martial arts veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou was one of eight fighters cut by Bellator MMA, according to multiple media reports.

Sokoudjou, 31, was 2-1 during his tenure with Bellator. The Cameroon native earned back-to-back wins in 2014 but suffered a setback in his most recent bout, a second-round TKO defeat to Linton Vassell at Bellator 134 in February.

The other fighters to be released were Antonio Duarte, Razak Al-Hassan, Jesse Juarez, Curtis Millender, Julio Cesar Neves Jr., Alejandro Villalobos and Rafael Silva. All eight fighters were coming off at least one loss (Millender suffered consecutive defeats).

Of the eight, Sokoudjou, Juarez, Neves Jr. and Silva posted winning records while with the promotion.

Throughout his nine-year career, Sokoudjou (16-13) has fought under multiple banners, including Pride FC, UFC, Affliction, Dream and Strikeforce. He was cut by the UFC in 2008 following a 1-2 record inside the Octagon. He has campaigned as a light heavyweight for the majority of his career.

The news was earlier reported by BloodyElbow.com on Thursday.
