John Stones limped off with a thigh injury as Inter Milan hit back from two goals down for the second time this season to beat Udinese 5-3 and maintain their winning start in Serie A.
Stones, making his first start for his new club, pulled up early in the second half and must now be a major doubt for his side's top of the table clash with Roma on Saturday night.
In addition, his injury may come as a blow to England boss Thomas Tuchel, who is set to name his squad for the imminent four-match international break on Friday.
Inter boss Cristian Chivu confirmed to DAZN Italy that Stones "felt something in his flexor."
Just as they did against Napoli earlier this month, Inter made a shocking start with James Abankwah's ninth minute header and a 16th minute strike from Jurgen Ekkelencamp giving Udinese a 2-0 lead.
But Chivu's men stormed back, Carlos Augusto crashing one home just before the half-hour mark and Nicolo Barella's angled effort hauling his side level on 35.

Marcus Thuram swept home an Andy Diouf cross early in the second half and further strikes from Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny sealed Inter's win before Idrissa Gueye struck a late consolation for the visitors.
Stones joined Inter in the summer after nine years for Manchester City, and was a key player for Tuchel and England at the 2026 World Cup.
