Carrick 'delighted' with new Manchester United signings (1:31)

Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a stoppage-time screamer on his debut to snatch Everton a point in a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

After a goalless first half, United took a quick lead through Bryan Mbeumo before Tyrique George thundered a beautiful equaliser home seven minutes from time.

Substitute Benjamin Sesko restored the visitors' lead, heading in from a pinpoint cross but summer signing Maitland-Niles had other plans, coming on to fire the equaliser in the 96th minute.

Everton made a winning start to the new campaign at Hill Dickinson Stadium, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 courtesy of fine finishes from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry.

James Tarkowski rescued the Toffees away to Bournemouth, stabbing home in the 91st minute following a defensive blunder to salvage a point for his side.

But positive spirits quickly unravelled on Transfer Deadline Day, when a late deal to sign Folarin Balogun from Monaco collapsed, leaving Moyes with just one striker following the departure of superstar Iliman Ndiaye.

The Red Devils were stunned by newly-promoted Hull 2-0 in their opener, but a 5-2 hammering over Ipswich renewed optimism that an upward trajectory can follow under Carrick this season.
